OwlCrate YA Book Box – Full Spoilers for February 2017!

Looks like it is spoiler day around the interwebs. Stalking instagram and reading groups really pays off when you need to spoil yourself!

I’ll do a full review when I receive mine (it hasn’t shipped quite yet, they are sending them out in waves), but here is a first look:

CARAVAL! I was so hoping this was the book, as I have put off purchasing a copy as I felt it fit the theme of this coming month. Caraval is also in my top 10 most wanted books for this year (see post here), so it has been agonizing to see everyone reading it.

Here is a quick glance of the items in this month’s OwlCrate (one not pictured):

  • Caraval by Stephanie Garber, plus a signed bookplate
  • Night Circus Themed Black Tote Bag
  • Night Circus Themed Bookmark
  • Lip Balm
  • Attic Journals Deck of Paper – Notepad
  • Carnival Themed Page Flags
  • Frostbeard Studio Candle – Night Circus Themed
  • Monthly OwlCrate button (the red button – looks also to be Night Circus themed!)

Here are the details on Goodreads about Caraval:

Welcome, welcome to Caraval―Stephanie Garber’s sweeping tale of two sisters who escape their ruthless father when they enter the dangerous intrigue of a legendary game.

Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.

But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nevertheless becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.

There are still February boxes available for OwlCrate, so if this box looks like you’d love it or you’d love to gift it to a friend, head on over to their store. The March box goes on sale on 2/19 for new subscriptions, and at the end of the month they will post any leftover February boxes as single purchase items in their store.

Here are some details on OwlCrate:

1 – Their boxes are shipped monthly, usually between the 15th & 20th.

2 – Subscription rate is $29.99 per month, plus shipping ($6.99 to the US, $10.59 to Canada, $19.99 worldwide).

3 – They just started working with PayPal! I know that’s good news for a lot of people, though I personally don’t really use PayPal. Worth mentioning though.

Curious about next month’s box? Check out the theme announcement here. The March boxes go on sales beginning 2/19.
