Waiting on Wednesday: March 15, 2017

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Breaking the Spine to shine a light on an eagerly anticipated read. Since I finally have my hands on my new releases for this week, the pressure has been relieved enough that I could take my time on choosing.

So without further ado… here is my first Waiting on Wednesday pick:

31194576Release by Patrick Ness

Scheduled publication date: May 4, 2017     |    236 Pages     Walker Books

Why I chose this book:

Well, namely, because it looks like it will wreck all of us in the best way possible. And because it’s a Patrick Ness book. You don’t need any other reason than that. I mean… have you read A Monster Calls, or More Than This, or The Rest of Us Just Live Here? I probably still have tear stained tissues under the bed from when I read A Monster Calls, and they will likely be there until I move. So bring on Release.

Release

Blurb:

Inspired by Mrs Dalloway and Judy Blume’s Forever, Release is one day in the life of Adam Thorn, 17. It’s a big day. Things go wrong. It’s intense, and all the while, weirdness approaches…

Adam Thorn is having what will turn out to be the most unsettling, difficult day of his life, with relationships fracturing, a harrowing incident at work, and a showdown between this gay teen and his preacher father that changes everything. It’s a day of confrontation, running, sex, love, heartbreak, and maybe, just maybe, hope. He won’t come out of it unchanged. And all the while, lurking at the edges of the story, something extraordinary and unsettling is on a collision course.
