Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten (Recent) Unique Books I’ve Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is Top Ten Unique Books I’ve Read… I’m going to do a slight variation and turn that into Top Ten Unique Books I’ve Read Recently, otherwise I will agonize over details and rating systems and try to remember the most interesting books I read in grade school through college and by the end I will be an utter wreck. So let’s skip that, and keep it to books I am most recently familiar with.

Sorry, I truly could not keep it under 12 books. I had a hard time narrowing it down. So here they are. Though there are a couple of stories inspired by other tales (for example Flame in the Mist being inspired by Mulan and 41 Ronin), the re-telling factor didn’t override the uniqueness of the story itself. All of these books were great reads and many of them thought provoking.

Two of them are not YA, so if you drop American Gods and Song of Achilles, there are the top 10 YA recent-unique-books.

What is on your list? Do we share any titles? Let me know in the comments!
