I have definitely fallen behind on Tags, but seeing as I have a few moments today quite by surprise, I wanted to do at least one. As you may or may not know, my day job is at a high school, so this time of year is absolutely crazy! Looking back at my own time in high school, I don’t think I really appreciated all the work that teachers, coaches and administrators put in to making each day a success… especially the days leading up to graduation. Next week, I will see our class of 2017 graduate, and it is quite bittersweet!
If you are reading this and are still in school, or about to graduate, please know that my thoughts are with you as your year comes to an end… and hope that you have a memorable summer ahead of you!
Okay, so in honor of the last days of classes, I think the school subjects book tag is a perfect fit for today.
Off we go! If you feel like joining in, please consider yourself tagged!
MATH – A BOOK THAT LEFT YOUR HEAD SPINNING IN CIRCLES
I am going with The Girl from Everywhere and The Ship Beyond Time duology. These books kept you guessing with the precision, or lack thereof, of the capabilities of time travel. The magic is so specific in how it is connected to each map, its authenticity, the date of its actual creation, and its level of detail. So it was one of the items in the books that really made you wonder… no matter what the character’s intention, would they really end up where they wanted to be?
ENGLISH – A BOOK YOU THINK HAS BEAUTIFUL WRITTEN EXPRESSION
I’m going with either of these books by Emily Henry. I think she has a lovely way with words and thought-provoking ideas.
PHYSICS – YOUR FAVORITE SCIENTIFICALLY MINDED CHARACTER FROM A BOOK OR FILM
CHEMISTRY – YOUR FAVORITE LITERARY COUPLE
Rowan and Aelin from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. Even with as much love as I have for Feyre and Rhysand, and so many other couples, I am obsessed with this pair. They are fated. They are everything. And I can only hope it ends well.
BIOLOGY – YOUR FAVORITE BOOK/SERIES/FILM CHARACTER
Book: Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows
Series: Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court, from ACOTAR Series
Film: Chihiro from Spirited Away
FRENCH – YOUR FAVORITE FOREIGN BOOK/FILM/PROGRAM
Book: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Film: Spirited Away by Hayao Miyazaki / Studio Ghibli
Program: The Returned (Original French Version, not the awful US remake)
ART – HAVE YOU EVER JUDGED A BOOK BY ITS COVER, EVEN IF YOU WEREN’T MEANT TO?!
All the time. I love cover reveals, and if they match a good description, I’m not ashamed to admit that I will likely pick it up. It has always worked out, to my recollection anyway!
HISTORY – THE LAST HISTORICAL BOOK YOU READ
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr – I don’t often indulge in war fiction, but this book was amazing. As far as YA goes, I don’t have a historical fiction pick that I’ve read, but I do have one on my shelf… Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys.
GEOGRAPHY – A LITERARY DESTINATION YOU WOULD REALLY LIKE TO VISIT (REAL OR FICTIONAL)
I couldn’t go with just one! And I also went completely fictional because they can only be visited in books.
- Rifthold from Throne of Glass
- Ketterdam from Six of Crows
- Velaris from ACOTAR
DRAMA – A BOOK YOU THINK HAS A LOT OF OVERDRAMATIC HYPE
Overdramatic hype doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s bad. It’s a book or series that has a large following, like con-worthy, fan-girling type hype. So it may not be as grand as you thought it would be, but you still enjoyed it all the same.
So I’m going with the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard. I think it’s worth a read, but it has HYPE all over it.
Homework is so not necessary these days! But if you want to tag yourself, please do!
