#WaitingOnWednesday 6/21/17: As You Wish by Chelsea Sedoti

Earlier this year, I read The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett by Chelsea Sedotti and was really taken in by her writing style and true to life characters. While that was a mystery/contemporary, her new book As You Wish sounds like contemporary with a bit of magic… and that is right up my alley. I can’t wait to read this one!

As You Wish releases on January 2, 2018. (I know, that’s forever from now!)

What if you could ask for anything- and get it?

In the sandy Mojave Desert, Madison is a small town on the road between nothing and nowhere. But Eldon wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, because in Madison, everyone gets one wish—and that wish always comes true.

Some people wish for money, some people wish for love, but Eldon has seen how wishes have broken the people around him. And with the lives of his family and friends in chaos, he’s left with more questions than answers. Can he make their lives better? How can he be happy if the people around him aren’t? And what hope is there for any of them if happiness isn’t an achievable dream? Doubts build, leading Eldon to a more outlandish and scary thought: maybe you can’t wish for happiness…maybe, just maybe, you have to make it for yourself.

  1. I was so excited about As You Wish. The premise seemed absolutely adorable – a novel all about wishing. However, the way in which it was portrayed was just too bland for me.
The author concentrates more on the idea of wishing itself then creating a distinct plot. Very little happens in this book in terms of suspense and there is absolutely no character development. I hope you like it a lot more than I did! 😀
