Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is the Top Ten Books on My Fall TBR List. Wow. There are seriously so many books I want to read this fall, both new and old. These might bounce around a little in time, so apologies in advance!
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas
As I mentioned yesterday in my new release post, I’ve started this book and am really enjoying it. However, I’ve been so short on time since the whole work / grad school / life thing, that I have NOT devoured this at even close to how fast I normally read an SJM book. And I am NOT a big Chaol fan, but this book is just so good. Well researched. Heartbreaking. And Yrene is the best character to come back from the novellas EVER. I didn’t even like the novella she was in that much… clearly, I need to go back and re-read the Assassin and the Healer.
So this is the top of the TBR as it is hanging out on my nightstand!
Invictus by Ryan Graudin
This comes out next week! EEEEK! I’m actually reading the ARC, and am loving every minute. Since its an ebook, I can read it on lunch breaks and such, or later at night when my book light starts to annoy my eyes. You guys, this book is so fun! It’s nothing like Wolf by Wolf; it’s more of a fun time-traveling, coming-of-age romp with heists.
I hope the rest of it is as good. I’ll have a review up likely this weekend just in time for its release.
Warcross by Marie Lu
I’ve been stalking this book all year, and now I’m heartbroken to have it sitting on my TBR pile with no read date in sight. GAH. But I will eventually get to read it. And the cover… I hate to be that person, but I have to say that the cover is so gorgeous. It looks superb on the shelf.
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
If there is one thing that is cringeworthy on my list, it’s the fact that Strange the Dreamer is also still sitting on my shelf. I feel like I can be forgiven for not reading Warcross yet… it’s only been out for 7 days. But Strange the Dreamer? Months. MONTHS. And it has received wonderful reviews! What is wrong with me? I think I must need some cooler temps to get snuggled in for the longer reads, clearly the heat has warped my mind.
Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo
I honestly wanted to read this as soon as it released at the end of August, however, I had just seen the movie. And I heard that they are very different, which I am in favor of (though I LOVED the movie.) That being said, I didn’t want them to be compared too closely in my mind, so I decided to hold off. It’s on my shelf, waiting for the right moment.
The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo
Because if it wasn’t obvious enough, the Grishaverse + Me = Happiness. I know there are only short stories, but I. Must. Read. All. of. Them.
Is anyone else secretly hoping for a Kaz and Inej narrative? I need so much more of all of the Dregs. And the Darkling. More in general of all of the Grishaverse.
Artemis by Andy Weir
This is another ARC on my shelf, but I can’t talk about it yet because of the terms the publisher sent… so… if you liked The Martian, and are looking forward to another space adventure from Andy Weir, just know that Artemis is on the way. It’s not like The Martian (no Mars, no Mark Watney), but I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
Definitely on my fall TBR.
A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess
Someone gave this to me last year, raving about how much they loved it. The second book in this series came out today. Kinda gotta get on this one soon.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
This series started in 2015, and I missed the whole thing. A special edition of the first book is coming out at the end of October, so I’ve decided I have to find out the whole Red London / Black London / whatever London thing and understand what everyone has been talking about. I MUST TRY IT!
A Court of Thorns & Roses (The Whole Series – All Over Again) by Sarah J. Maas
Once November rolls around, I am 100% committed to doing a re-read of this series from start to finish. I’ve only read ACOWAR the one time this spring. And I appreciate ACOTAR more now that I know how ACOWAR ends. And ACOMAF… well, obviously it’s the best book in the series and I mostly just need an excuse to be drawn into its world again. So that’s three more books on the list, but I will count it as one because I’ll finish it in a week.
What would you add? I could probably like 100 more, but these are my must read TBR currently!
